Hey welcome to TYTAN Professional Videos. I’m James Davoli, the product manager. Today we’re answering the question, how do you use fire block foam? Well, fire block foam first off is a draft stopper. Now, what do we mean by draft stopper? We mean we’re trying to stop the draft air from fueling a fire. And this was explained in our video where it’s fire block versus fire stop.
Now, today, I’m going to show a demonstration on how to use our Fire Block Extreme to fill this gap or this void that would allow draft air to fuel a fire. We’re in the garage of this new house and it looks like there was a hole punctured on accident by someone in the past. And so we’re going to go ahead and fire block it because for regulation instances, this would have to be fire blocked for it to pass inspection.
So I’m going to go ahead and get on my proper PPE and then start installing our Fire Block Extreme.
All right. As with any of our products, good shaking is always needed, especially for fire block because there’s orange dye that sits at the bottom. So you need to make sure it shakes up well. So whenever you shoot the foam out, it shoots out orange. Very important. So I’m going to start from the bottom, as you would with any foam sealant.
Start from the bottom and fill up. And that’s very important. If you try to start at the top and fill down the foam will actually collapse or fall on itself. But if you can stack it on top, on top of itself, it’s going to hold itself and give it more rigid kind of feeling and support itself up against this substrate.
All right. So there we have now that penetration in this garage has been fire blocked. It’s going to stop the draft air from fueling a fire if there happens to be one in the future. And that’s how you’re going to use fire block. It’s to help seal off those penetrations that are coming from the outside of the house. Inside the house.
And many other points around the house. But this was a very good example of where you would use fire block in your house and why it’s important to stop that draft air. Thank you for watching. Please.
