The perfect bead size depends on what application you’re going to do and with what product. For example, if you’re using our TYTAN Professional Window and Door foam, you’re going to use about a quarter inch bead size. The reason for this is a quarter inch is the typical gap between a window or door frame and the framing of the house. Thus you only need a quarter inch bead size. Now if you’re talking about something like our Drywall or Subfloor Adhesive, you will be using closer to a half inch bead size. This ensures when you’re applying our product for those applications, you can span that two inch either joist or stud to ensure that the adhesive is covering the entire surface area and applying the two substrates to get the maximum coverage with our adhesive. Now last you’re think what would you need bigger than a half inch? Well, in our Fire Block applications, you might need to cover up to three inches of gap fill maybe around electrical boxes, plumbing from outside to inside, HVAC from one floor to the next floor. So, Fire Block is a common product where you use anywhere from a half inch up to a three inch bead trying to cover gaps and cracks.
