We got this question recently: What is tensile strength? Well, that’s a great question This is something we list on the TDS for our Foam Bond 60 adhesive. So let’s get into it. We usually measure this 3 different ways: Shear, compression, and tensile strength. Shear strength measures how well an adhesive resists sliding forces. Compression strength measures how well an adhesive can withstand when materials are pressed together. Tensile strength is about how much pulling force an adhesive can handle. Think of materials being stretched or pulled. This is especially important for Foam Bond 60. People use it to hang up foam shapes and insulation panels. Of course you don’t want those products to fall off.
