Hey welcome to TYTAN Professional videos. I’m James Davoli, the product manager. And today we are answering the question: is fire block foam 2-hour rated? Well, first, let’s get back to what is fire block versus fire stop? Remember in our previous video, fire block is made to stop the draft air, whereas fire stop is made to stop the fire from moving past that point.
So I want to point out on our can, there’s a little square box that says what certifications and testing we have for our fire block foams on there. It’s going to say it’s a Type V residential fire block. It’s also going to have a flame spread and smoke development. Now, what does that mean? We’ve gone through the UL 723 test and that’s going to show us how much flame spread there is with our foam and how much smoke has developed.
So what am I getting after here? Well, our foam catches fire. It is not made to stop the fire. It’s made to stop the draft air from fueling a fire. So to answer your question, is fire block foam 2-hour rated? No, it is not. Fire block foam is simply made to stop the draft air from fueling the fire, not to stop it.
It will catch fire. And please do not mistake the two. Please like our video comment. Add any questions or comments that you might have for future videos with us. Thank you and have a great day.
