There’s been a lot of buzz about AI recently. 78% of organizations are using AI for at least one business function. So, naturally that leads us to a question: what does this mean for the insulation industry? So I recently came across a National Association of Home Builders article that made me think about this issue. Artificial Intelligence is already transforming how houses are being designed and built. It’s helping optimize building layouts, improve cost planning and help design more energy efficient systems. So, where does this leave the professional insulator? Well, even with AI streamlining the design process, we’re still left with imperfect building materials. There are gaps, joints, and penetrations that still need to be sealed. If you haven’t read this article I wrote called “Why Does Wood Warp?” I highly recommend it. I’ll save you some time, the biggest takeaway is this: every piece of structural lumber has measurable warp. AI may change how buildings are being conceived, but it does not change the need for air sealing, building envelope, and insulation that professionals provide.
