Hey, welcome to TYTAN Professional Videos. I’m James Davoli, the product manager. Today we are asking the question, what’s the difference between fire block and fire stop? So let’s start off with something that’s very simple. The color. Fire block is orange where fire stop is red. And this is for inspection purposes. Now, let’s get into some more technical reasons of what’s the difference between fire block and fire stop.
TYTAN Professional Fire Block Extreme and Fire Block 113 are designed to stop or block the draft air from fueling the fire. These applications might include a round electrical outlet. They might be from plumbing. They might be from HVAC. Similar scenarios in residential and commercial. It might be the same. Now where fire stop differs besides the color.
Fire stop is made to stop the fire. Our fire block foam will catch fire. Whereas a fire stop will not catch fire up to a certain hour rating. The biggest difference when you’re looking at where can you use fire stop or fire block will need to be referenced back to the building codes for your area. You need to make sure whether it’s residential or commercial building, you’re using the proper application for the proper products to ensure you’re not going to get a fire stop or fire block confused and put in the wrong application.
So if I can sum it up, the big differences are fire block is orange fire stop is red. Fire block is made to stop the draft air from fueling a fire while a fire stop is made to stop the fire from going any further with a certain amount of time resistance. Thank you for your time and have a great day.
