Hey, welcome to TYTAN Professional Videos. I’m James Davoli, the product manager. Today we’re answering the question does our TYTAN Professional Subfloor Adhesive stop, prevent and fix existing floor squeaks? So I want to start off with our subfloor adhesive and how it kind of works to answer these questions. First our polyurethane adhesive for subfloor application is made to apply as a foam turn into a gel and then expand over 48 hours to connect the joist or the I-beam to the subfloor.
Now going into answering, does it prevent and stop floor squeaks? The answer is yes. That is exactly what this was innovated for. And what it’s designed to do is connect the I-beams or the joist to the subfloor with a continuous bond all throughout that joist or I-beam connecting the subfloor, which is going to help reduce the fastener strain.
Now you get fastener strain whenever you have a distance. Let’s call it 16 inches between joists and between those joists when you apply weight, if you’re using just nail fasteners or even just screw fasteners, you’re going to have a small bend in that subfloor because you’re not standing on the direct support of the joist or I-beams. And over time, that can cause so much strain on the fastener that it will quite literally loosen and come out of the joist a little bit.
That is where you get your floor squeak from. Existing floor squeaks means you already have a fastener that is loose and not completely embedded in the subfloor into the I-beam or joist and the up and down movement. Causing the floor squeak can only be fixed with removing the subfloor, adding our adhesive, and then putting down the subfloor with new fasteners and new holes.
You don’t want to put them in the same holes because you will have potential to have that same problem in junction. With our subfloor adhesive, what you’re going to do is create a stronger bond. So that way when you’re walking in between the two joist or the two I-beams on that subfloor, there will be significantly reduced movement. If not no movement.
And the whole point of our subfloor adhesive is to stop that movement from happening. That’s what prevents the fasteners from coming loose and allowing the floor squeaks. Do you guys have more questions? Please comment like this video and thank you for this wonderful day.
